Spring Dates and Deadlines

Congratulations! Welcome to the Forester Family. Now that it’s official, here are main items and their deadlines. Completing these tasks on time will help make your transition to the College this spring easy.

What to expect

Receive your Computing Instructions

Students use their credentials in various ways including their Lake Forest email address; on Moodle, the course management system; and on my.lakeforest, our Intranet portal for registering and managing your account. It’s important that you do not change any passwords for these accounts until you arrive on campus.

Final Transcript and Good Academic Standing

Keep up the good work and finish strong! Lake Forest College admission offers are always contingent upon receiving final transcript(s) showing acceptable academic performance and no disciplinary issues. We do reserve the right to rescind the offer of admission if academic or disciplinary concerns are presented at any time.

Housing Contract

We’re excited to help you take the next steps to make Lake Forest College your home away from home. One business day after the New Student Information Form us submitted, you will be granted access to the housing contract. You can access and complete the housing contract by clicking the “my.housing” link on the my.lakeforest home screen. This is also where students my search for and select roommates. You can read more about the process here.

Accessibility Services

If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, received accommodations at a previous college, or believe your disability or health condition could affect you as a student, please review our Services for Students with Disabilities. Learn more about what we offer and what our process entails, including submitting documentation.

Complete the Verification for Need for Accessibility Services Form which requires detailed information from you and your treating clinician or educational professional. 

Register for Spring Courses

The steps are outlined below.  Look for more details via email soon. 

  1. You will be assigned an academic advisor who will be in touch with you to assist with course registration.
  2. Complete your academic advising survey (sent via email). You should complete this survey so that your advisor can review it before they contact you.
  3. Prepare to talk to your advisor by checking out these web pages.
  4. Consult with your advisor
  5. Register for classes.
Tuition Payment and Health Insurance Waiver

You will be sent a notice when tuition bills are available online The Forester Payment Plan is a handy tool for spreading your tuition bill over the year, and will be available starting December 1. Learn more here. 

The Office of Financial Aid will also send information on how to apply for the Federal Stafford loans and parents will receive information on how to apply for the Federal Parent PLUS Loan, if they are interested in doing so. We encourage you to wait until you receive this information to apply for these loans. You will have until January 1 to complete the Stafford loan process, and to apply for the PLUS loan.

Payment Deadline: January 15

All Full-Time Undergraduate Students are automatically enrolled in and billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan. If you are insured by a plan that provides comparable coverage, you can request a waiver of enrollment. All eligible students must submit an online Waiver/Enrollment Form and elect to either enroll in or waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Health History Form

The Health & Wellness Center provides a range of health and wellness services to all Lake Forest College students with the aim of supporting students in achieving academic and personal excellence. Prior to your enrollment we need information about your health status and signed documentation of your immunization history. It is important that you complete the Medical History Form with immunizations located in the Lake Forest Student Health Portal by January 15. Click here to learn more.

Work Study

Students whose financial aid award includes “Federal Work Study” or “Lake Forest Work Study” will receive a link for an online work application. The Business Office does its best to place every work study student but placement in an on-campus job is not guaranteed.

Students who were not awarded work study may pursue student employment for skilled positions that are funded through College departmental budgets which are available on a limited basis and posted on Handshake pzlz3o.lacarteeconovista.com/careers/handshake. In addition to working for the College departments, students may seek non-College employment at Parkhurst, the College’s dining service on campus www.smile.jobs, Follett, the College’s bookstore on campus www.bkstr.com/lakeforeststore, or local businesses www.quadjobs.com.

AlcoholEdu & Sexual Assault Prevention Part I

All students are required to take the online courses with EverFi, whose mission is to help students address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention. As part of our comprehensive program, Lake Forest College will expect each member of the incoming class to complete Part 1 of the alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention courses online. Click here to read more about the Everfi course training modules.

You may access the courses beginning December 14. You will need to complete Part 1 of Alcohol Edu and Sexual Assault Prevention by January 14. Approximately 45 days later, you will receive an automated email asking you to complete both courses. At this time, you will need to complete Part 2 by March 3.

To access these courses, log in to my.lakeforest. Under the Students tab you will see the Health and Wellness Center link on the left. It is here that you will find AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention courses by Everfi. You will only need to register the first time you access EverFi.

Make plans to attend New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation will take place on January 15 & 16, 2023. Whether a first-year student or transfer, living on campus or at home, New Student Orientation is where you’ll meet your classmates and learn all about your new life as a Forester. It’s a must-attend experience! Check your email for more information.

Move-in Day

Move-in day is Sunday, January 9. Fellow Foresters will be on hand to help you move into your new home. We will share with you a list of what to bring (and what not to bring).
